During hot rolling, hardening, tempering, and subsequent strip-processing operations, defects such as oxide scale, roll marks, scratches, and surface irregularities may develop. These defects can transfer to processing rolls and repeatedly damage the strip surface, resulting in quality rejection and higher finishing costs.
VALGRO’s dry strip grinding system removes the affected surface layer using controlled abrasive grinding. It helps produce a consistent surface texture, improves strip appearance, and prepares the material for the next stage of manufacturing.
The machine can be configured with multiple grinding heads, strip-guiding arrangements, dust-extraction equipment, and process automation, depending on the strip material, width, thickness, line speed, and required finish.
For cladding applications, the grinding process can also roughen and mechanically activate the surfaces of steel or aluminum strip before roll bonding. The system is designed for stable operation without coolant or process water. This positioning aligns with the existing product-page description while presenting the application more clearly
